Aquatech Asia 2005 to Promote Developments in Water and Waste Water Management
Amsterdam RAI and AsiaCongress Events will jointly organise the sixth Aquatech Asia following the success of Aquatech held in Amsterdam last year and the USA earlier this year. The exhibition will be held from 6-8 October 2005 at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (BITEC).
Mr Marcel Ewals, Managing Director of AsiaCongress Events Co Ltd, said “With some 100 exhibitors from 20 countries, this is undoubtedly the trade event of the year is for the region’s water and waste water management. The international significance of the event is emphasised by pavilions from India, The Netherlands, Singapore and the United States.
“The exhibition, which is organised every two years, is expected to draw great interest over the course of three days. Visitors both local and international will be from various government agencies (water districts and industrial estates), local government (city mayors, city planners, and sanitary engineers), national agencies (regulatory and policy making bodies), private industry (plant engineers & managers, water treatment plant managers, industrial estate managers, laboratory engineers) and the academia,” Mr Ewals said.
He added, “We are proud that Aquatech Asia has developed into the international event with high level of business opportunities for water professionals worldwide with a clear focus on Asia.
“On the 6th and 7th October, we, together with The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) will organise the Aqua Asia Forum under the theme of ‘Sustainable Water Resource Management and Sustainable Wastewater Technology’. Guest speakers will be from recognised institutions. The forum is for scientists, engineers, researchers and managers worldwide to discuss and share experiences on the latest developments, practical and long-term solutions, and innovative management techniques. Issues addressed will be the increasing problems of water depletion and water resource management, as well as, highlighting effective wastewater management and treatment technology,” he added.
Mr Vichian Udomratanasilpa, Assistant Governor (Corporate Affairs) of Provincial Waterworks Authority, said “Our organisation has been responsible for the provision of drinking water supply for all Thais. We are a public water utility for people in 73 provinces around Thailand. We have to be service oriented for social development and sustainable water resource conservation.”
According to Mr Akanit Ampawasiri, Deputy Director General for Administration & Acting Director General to the Wastewater Management Authority, “Aquatech Asia 2005 offers a great opportunity for the regional water industry to meet and share ideas on the future of the industry. It will be the source of knowledge and information to further develop and manage water and waste water efficiently and effectively.”
Aquatech Asia 2005 is certified by the US Commercial Services and supported by Thailand’s Provincial Waterworks Authority, Metropolitan Waterworks Authority, Pollution Control Department, Wastewater Management Authority, TCEB, The Royal Dutch Embassy, Asian Institute of Technology, Thai-India Chamber of Commerce and Singapore Water Association.
